A pretty Hilltop scene of Italy with a wide cobblestone road slopes downwards revealing a distant view of the town below under a hazy horizon. A terracotta-orange pillar adjacent to it is a low, light-colored villa wall containing a single dark green door.  The sky is filled with broad, soft brushstrokes of blue and pale white, suggesting a bright, partially cloudy day. 

Oil on board surrounded by a decorative gold gilt wooden frame and signed ‘T Sonoloff 1914’.  T Sonoloff was a lesser known C20th artist, most likely Russian and during the early 1900’s him and many other Eastern European artists travelled to or lived in Southern Europe—particularly Italy and the French Riviera—to paint coastal landscapes.

Vintage items have all had a previous life and in most cases the condition will show signs of age with wear and tear including scuffs and scratches.
