This charming French C18th oak chair was made to store salt when salt was a precious commodity.  It would have been kept by the fireside to keep out the humidity so the salt could remain dry. Often the grandma would sit on the chair to hide what it contained.  The chair seat lifts up with storage below.

I love the simplicity of this piece.  Perfect for an entrance hall.
